So I’d like to apologize for the necro but is he just there to talk to and possibly steal the note from to give an idea about the Immortal Coil quest? Because I make it a habit of putting all Thalmor in black soul gems and don’t want to break anything.

Damn Kris, I didn’t expect such a fast answer, thank you.

Get INPCs to Relax?

Hello there! I got INPC a few days ago and have been travelling Skyrim with Lydia and Rumarin for several in-game weeks now – and I just noticed something. I have Lively Followers so Lydia usually sits down and eat when we stop in inns (we do so quite frequently as I play with Realistic Needs), and Rumarin is stuck watching us eat and sleep :'(

Is there any other mod that might get him to relax? I swapped Lively Followers out for Followers Can Relax, but that didn’t work as well. I’m pretty new to modding so I was wondering if I’ve missed anything? Other than the multi-follower mods.

Another option I thought of was using iNeed instead of RnD, as it says on iNeed’s page that it comes with followers needs function. I’m not sure if it works on iNPC followers though, Lively Followers didn’t – has anyone tried yet?

Lively Followers probably just has to apply its sandbox package to the mod’s follower “quest,” usually via a patch that has 3DNPC.esp as a master, or via a script like Convenient Horses does.

The reason you can recruit both Lydia and Rumarin is because Lydia slots into the DialogueFollower quest alias, which is vanilla, and Rumarin goes into a special clone of vanilla, DialogueFollower3DNPC.

For instance, if you type SQV DialogueFollower in the console and pgUp to look at the aliases, you’ll see Lydia’s refID there. Do the same with SQV DialogueFollower3DNPC and you’ll see Rumarin’s refid, or whoever you recruited from the mod.

So what Lively Followers likely does is apply a sandbox AI package to whoever’s refID is in DialogueFollower, be it Lydia or Sven or whoever.

For it to work on Rumarin, the same needs to be done to DialogueFollower3DNPC, and I imagine it must recognize that quest’s existence to do so.

The only exceptions are if follower mods apply their changes to something both vanilla and 3DNPC share, like say, the currentfollowerfaction or anyone using the vanilla follower package as opposed to checking the above alias.
